About College & History
The founder of Shree Swami Vivekanand Shikshan Sanstha, Shikshanmaharshi Dr. Bapuji Salunkhe established Arts and Commerce College, Kadepur in June 1984 with a motto, “Dissemination of education for knowledge, science and culture.” The Sanstha was founded to cater the need of higher education of the people living in rural and remote area in the vicinity of Kadepur village. Kadepur, having the population of about 10000, is situated in the district of Sangli in the Western Maharashtra. The students seek admission in the college from the villages like Khambale, Nevari, Shivani, Tadsar, Amarapur, Shalgaon, Chinchani, Wangi, Ambegaon, Chikhali, Soholi, Kadegaon, Kadepur and other small villages too. The management of the college aims at to provide quality education with necessary infrastructure and facilities.
There are five departments in the Arts stream viz. Marathi, Hindi, English, Economics and History, as well as Commerce department at the UG level. Extension and co-curricular activities are conducted under the departments of NSS, Gymkhana, Cultural activities. The students are oriented about local, global, and intercultural issues through extra-curricular and co-curricular activities.
Annual administrative committees perform crucial role in providing quality education to the students. The students achieved outstanding success on state and national level competitions in sports, especially, in wrestling. The faculty in the college is well qualified, experienced, research-oriented and enthusiastic to build up efficiency and good temper in the students by enhancing loyalty, courage, discipline, values of self-sacrifice and spirituality in the students. ‘Dongarai’, the yearly magazine motivates students for their creative potential.
